The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency sent a severe IPAWS wireless alert Saturday morning asking Barnstable County residents to check their property for a missing 76-year-old woman.

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency issued a severe Local Area Emergency wireless alert for Barnstable County, Massachusetts, on Saturday morning1.

The IPAWS product, sent at 8:27 a.m. EST and updated at 8:39 a.m. EST, was rated Severe, Immediate and Observed1. It was listed to expire at 4:27 p.m. EST Saturday1.

The message, credited to Barnstable Police, said a 76-year-old White woman was missing from 310 Pine Street in West Barnstable and was last seen about 10 a.m. the previous day1. A shorter wireless text described her as a missing female with dementia1. Residents were asked to check their property, yards, cars and outbuildings, and not to search beyond their property1. The alert said there was a heavy presence of personnel and dogs in the woods1.

Anyone with information was asked to call 508-778-38741. The alert did not name the woman or say whether she had been found1.
