The Clorox Company said Thursday that its board appointed Unilever executive Fabian Garcia as chief executive, effective Jan. 5, 20271,2.

Garcia, president of Unilever Personal Care and a member of Unilever's leadership executive, will succeed Linda Rendle, who announced in May that she would leave the role for health reasons1,2.

Rendle will remain chair and CEO until Garcia takes over, then serve in an advisory role through April 2, 2027, according to the company1,2.

On the same date Garcia becomes CEO, he will join Clorox's board, Rendle will leave the board, and lead independent director Matthew Shattock will become independent chair, the company said2.

Clorox, based in Oakland, California, said Garcia has more than four decades in consumer products, including as Unilever's North America president, as CEO of Revlon, and in senior roles at Colgate-Palmolive and Procter & Gamble1,2.

Clorox said it will report first-quarter fiscal 2027 results on Nov. 21,2.
