President Donald Trump’s planned Saturday rally in Salina, Kansas, is canceled, the Kansas Republican Party told States Newsroom and Salina Regional Airport officials told local television^4,15.

The event had been set for Saturday, Oct. 31, at Salina Regional Airport, five days before the Nov. 3 midterm elections^4,15.

Pieter Miller, executive director of the Salina Airport Authority, said the president’s Saturday schedule meant “all Salina events are cancelled”¹⁵.

A White House official, speaking on background to States Newsroom, said Trump would keep reaching voters through more than 20 telerallies before Election Day and that those events let him highlight his record⁴.

The Salina stop was planned as support for Republican Sen. Roger Marshall, who faces Democrat Adam Hamilton in a race the Cook Political Report has rated a toss-up⁴.

Trump already campaigned for Marshall on Oct. 19 in Park City, a Wichita suburb⁴.

Kansas Reflector reported Thursday that the Marshall-Hamilton contest is the most expensive election in Kansas history⁴.

Trump’s midterm travel began in early October; he rallied Thursday in Rock Hill, South Carolina, for GOP Sen. Darline Graham, appointed in July to finish the late Lindsey Graham’s term⁴.

States Newsroom affiliates from Alabama to West Virginia ran the same Washington bureau account; KSN, in Wichita, led with the airport rather than the state party^1,4,15.

Neither the Kansas GOP confirmation nor the airport statement publicly detailed a further reason beyond the president’s schedule^4,15.
