Wire reporting: (AP, via WSVN 7)

A gunman who opened fire Wednesday at Citibank's suburban Tampa office campus was angry over a roughly $2,500 debt-collection case, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said Thursday1,2.

Officials identified him as Jacob Pearson, 35, of Orlando1,2. About three hours before the shooting he called a lawyer affiliated with Citibank and threatened to arrive with a rifle unless a court date was canceled, the sheriff said1,2.

Pearson drove from Orlando, crashed through a campus gate and shot 41-year-old Citibank employee Leanne Selman, WESH reported1. An armed Citibank security staffer shot Pearson, who died at a hospital1,2. Chronister said Pearson had 90 rounds and that a rifle jammed after some shots2.

WESH said five other people were hurt; WSVN's AP account said the security executive shot Pearson before he could hurt anyone else1,2. That injury count is not reconciled here.
