NASA names Troy Asher director of Armstrong Flight Research Center
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman named Troy Asher, the acting director since March, as director of Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman named Troy Asher director of the agency’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California, NASA said Thursday1.
Asher, described by NASA as a veteran test pilot and aerospace engineer, has served as the center’s acting director since March1.
Isaacman said Asher has spent his career pushing the boundaries of flight, both flying experimental aircraft and leading the teams behind those missions1.
NASA Associate Administrator and Chief Engineer Amit Kshatriya cited Asher’s Air Force test-pilot service and leadership of NASA flight research missions1.
Asher will oversee Armstrong’s workforce and operations, including flight research, aircraft operations and new aviation technologies, NASA said1.
NASA called Armstrong its Flight Test and Aircraft Operations Center of Excellence and said the center is central to rebuilding the agency’s X-plane portfolio, high-speed flight research, experimental aircraft, airborne science and flight operations across the agency1.
