Saudi authorities said two people were killed and eight injured in an attack Wednesday evening on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam that Yemen's Houthi movement claimed1,6.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation identified the dead as a Saudi citizen and an Indian resident1,2. Earlier statements had put the airport death toll at one3,4,7.
Arab News later identified the Saudi citizen as airport worker Sultan Al-Qahtani, who was on duty when a fire broke out between Gates 19 and 20 after the Oct. 21 strike12. He and colleagues used fire extinguishers, fearing the blaze could reach a nearby aircraft; he then reported chest pain and difficulty breathing after inhaling smoke and died in hospital12.
The Houthis said the airport was among sites they targeted with drones and missiles over 48 hours1. Saudi authorities did not specify the weapon used at Dammam1.
Separately, the Saudi energy ministry said two people, residents from the Philippines and Nepal, were killed Wednesday morning by debris from a drone intercepted as it approached an Aramco processing facility at the Shaybah oil field1. The Houthis' military spokesman did not claim that strike1.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea also listed the defense ministry in Riyadh, an Aramco site in Yanbu and Abha airport as targets1. A Saudi-led coalition said drones were intercepted over Eastern Province, Riyadh and Medina1.
Saudi authorities say at least 21 people have been killed in Houthi attacks on Saudi airports since the start of October, including an Oct. 10 strike on Riyadh's airport that killed 131. The Houthis say they are responding to Saudi air strikes in Yemen1.
