Six people died in an early Thursday fire at a two-story home in Brooklyn's Sunset Park neighborhood, the New York City Fire Department said, with additional civilians and firefighters injured as crews fought the blaze1,10,12.

The fire was reported about 1:40 a.m. on 58th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues1,10,12. PIX11, citing officials, said the fire broke out in the basement of the two-story building12.

What is not yet public includes a confirmed cause, the identities of the dead and injured, and a reconciled injury total between the Associated Press count of seven and PIX11's figure of 13 additional injuries1,10,12.
