The National Weather Service in Shreveport issued a tornado warning at 10:55 a.m. CST Tuesday for south-central Lafayette County in southwestern Arkansas and northwestern Bossier Parish in northwestern Louisiana, in effect until 11:45 a.m. CST.

NWS said that at 10:55 a.m. CST a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Plain Dealing, or 18 miles southwest of Springhill, moving northeast at 25 mph, with rotation indicated on radar. Locations listed as impacted included Plain Dealing, Bradley, Bolinger and State Line.

The warning followed an earlier NWS Shreveport tornado warning at 10:21 a.m. CST for northwestern Bossier Parish and northwestern Caddo Parish, in effect until 11 a.m. CST, that placed a similar storm over Belcher, about 20 miles north of Shreveport, also moving northeast at 25 mph1. That alert listed Plain Dealing, Belcher, Gilliam and Cavett among locations impacted1.

The agency said flying debris would be dangerous without shelter, that mobile homes could be damaged or destroyed, and that damage to roofs, windows, vehicles and trees was likely1. NWS told people in the warned area to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built building away from windows, and to leave vehicles and mobile homes for substantial shelter1.
