Neil Bush, a brother of former President George W. Bush, said in a Tuesday social media post that he will vote for Democrat James Talarico in the Texas U.S. Senate race, Al Jazeera reported1.

Bush wrote that he was troubled by Republican nominee Ken Paxton’s effort as attorney general to challenge 2020 presidential results in other states, calling that an affront to democratic institutions and the peaceful transfer of power, according to Al Jazeera1. He also pointed to Paxton’s impeachment by the Republican-controlled Texas House and later acquittal in the Texas Senate1.

Al Jazeera said Barbara Bush has also backed Talarico and that a Marist poll released Oct. 14 had Talarico at 47 percent and Paxton at 45 percent1. The New York Times carried a matching headline; its article was not read behind the paywall4.

Separately, CNBC reported a Wednesday exchange in which Elon Musk wrote that something was deeply wrong with Talarico and Talarico replied that something was deeply wrong with a system that lets one trillionaire buy a senator2. CNBC said Musk gave $158 million in September to the Senate Leadership Fund, money that went to a Texas PAC supporting Paxton, and $10 million to another Paxton-backing PAC2.

KHOU reported Talarico campaigning in Fort Bend County and saying about $200 million had been spent on ads against him3. Several assignment links were unread poll or interview pages5,6,7,8,9,10.
