Amazon on Oct. 28 unveiled five Alexa-powered devices, including a bedside Echo Time clock, an Alexa Photo Frame, a refreshed Echo Dot, an Echo Studio with a camera and a redesigned Echo Show 16, according to TechCrunch, Engadget, The Verge and Wired1,4,5,6,8.

The company dripped hardware through October rather than holding one large fall showcase, Engadget and The Verge reported1,13. Wired quoted Devices and Alexa executive Panos Panay saying hundreds of millions of people now use Alexa+, the company's newer assistant, and that they talk to it more than before6.

The Echo Dot is on sale at about $100 with Amazon's AZ3 chip, four beamforming microphones, Matter and Thread hub support and an eero Wi-Fi extender, Engadget, TechCrunch and Wired reported1,3,4,6. Wired said the Dot, once a roughly $50 speaker, now starts at $1006.

The Echo Studio with a home camera is about $2501,4,6,8. Amazon said the camera is for live view, face recognition, visual questions and room-adaptive audio, and that it does not record footage, Engadget reported1. Wired said there is no physical privacy shutter, a button can disable the camera and microphones, Drop In video calling is due later in software, and a camera-free Studio remains on sale6.

The Alexa Photo Frame starts at about $200 for a black model and about $229 with birch or walnut, with a 10-inch display tied to Amazon Photos, Engadget and TechCrunch reported1,4,9,14. Amazon said the frame can skip screenshots and receipts and match photos to the season, according to TechCrunch's account of a company statement4.

Echo Time is about $200, or about $210 for a Kids model, with opt-in sleep sensing and no camera1,4,11,15. Amazon said it can start a wake sequence 10 to 60 minutes before an alarm during lighter sleep1,4,8. Engadget described a 2.3-inch circular screen; Wired described a 3.2-inch display that can dim to 0.3 nits1,6.

The Echo Show 16 is available to preorder at about $500, with a Nanomatte anti-glare option near $570, a $100 preorder discount and shipments by the end of the year, Engadget and The Verge reported1,5,10. Wired listed introductory pricing of $400 and a Nanomatte version at $5506. The Verge said the 16-inch display has new Screen Styles, a 13-megapixel camera with night vision and a rebuilt map of smart-home devices5,12.

The Verge, after a New York media event, said Aidan Marcuss, incoming vice president of Alexa and Echo, confirmed that full-screen ads remain on the Alexa Recommendations screensaver, can be turned off, and will not appear on other home screens5,13. Marcuss said customizable homescreens are free on the Show 16 but will require a subscription on older Shows, without naming a price5.

A Channel NewsAsia item carrying Reuters listed the same five products and noted Apple's HomeView and HomePod mini 2 as recent rivals8. Independent reviews of the new hardware were not in these reports1,4,5,6.
