Amazon on Wednesday introduced an Echo Studio with a built-in camera, priced at $249.99, as part of a wider Echo lineup update1,2.
The Verge reported that the Echo Studio with Home Camera can monitor a room while the owner is away, show objects to Alexa and, soon, be used for video calls on Fire TV devices1. Engadget said the camera can feed Live View in the Alexa app and that Amazon's devices chief, Panos Panay, demoed a call in New York using the speaker and a Fire TV2.
Amazon is keeping a camera-free Echo Studio at $219.99, The Verge reported; Engadget described that gap as about $30 over the 2025 model still listed at $2201,2.
Both outlets said Amazon added audio software: Advanced Room Adaptation, which the company says continuously tunes sound to a room, and Adaptive Volume, which it says holds perceived loudness as a listener moves1,2. Engadget said Amazon still positions the Studio around a high-excursion woofer, three full-range drivers and Dolby Atmos2.
The Verge also reported an Echo Dot refresh at $99.99, with Amazon's AZ3 chip, a fourth microphone, Zigbee, Matter and Thread support, and a built-in Eero Wi-Fi extender Amazon says can add up to 1,000 square feet of coverage1. Engadget did not cover the Dot2.
Neither report listed a ship date beyond availability for the Dot starting Wednesday or said when Fire TV calling would arrive1,2.
