UK Rockstar staff to vote on IWUGB recognition as GTA 6 ships

Engadget, citing Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, says Rockstar UK workers will vote Nov. 12–26 on recognizing an IWUGB branch as GTA 6 launches Nov. 19; a related tribunal is due to close days earlier.

Workers at Rockstar Games’ U.K. offices are scheduled to vote Nov. 12–26 on recognizing their branch of the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain, Engadget reported Tuesday, citing a social post from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier1. Grand Theft Auto 6 is due Nov. 191.

If the vote succeeds, Engadget said the Rockstar Game Workers Union would become the largest recognized union in the U.K. games industry1. That union, covering workers at Rockstar’s U.K. offices, was announced in May 20261.

An employment tribunal between Rockstar and IWUGB that had been expected to finish earlier in October has been extended, Engadget said, citing Rock Paper Shotgun1. Closing arguments are now expected Nov. 17 or 18, just before the GTA 6 launch1.

IWUGB brought the complaint after Rockstar laid off more than 30 employees in October 2025, most of whom were union members or involved in organizing, Engadget reported1. The layoffs raised concerns of union-busting; Rockstar said the workers were dismissed for misconduct related to sharing confidential information1.

In a Bloomberg feature earlier this month, Schreier reported that remaining unionizing workers have been in ongoing discussion with management, Engadget said1. Jennifer Kolbe, Rockstar’s head of publishing, told Schreier: “We go where the team goes. So if they want a union, they will have a union”1.

Engadget did not independently quote a new Rockstar statement on the vote window1. Ballot wording and how many staff are eligible were not detailed in that report1.
