Apple Stores will have a limited supply of the iPhone Duo for walk-in shoppers when the folding phone goes on sale Friday, Oct. 23, the company said Wednesday in statements to MacRumors, 9to5Mac and AppleInsider1,2,4. Reuters also reported the statement5,7.

The phone is Apple's first foldable, with a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner one, and starts at $1,9993. Online pre-orders sold out quickly, and orders placed now show a delivery date of Jan. 25, 20273,4.

"Apple Stores will have limited iPhone Duo available for walk-in customers," the company said, adding that it expects that stock to run out quickly because of high demand1,2.

Apple said walk-in units will be offered in the U.S., Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye and the U.K., and at some stores in Italy1,2. In Macao, launch-day sales will be walk-in only, with limited stock, Apple said1,5.

In France, mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates, stores will only hand over phones ordered online, with pickup booked for a set time1,2,3.

The outlets differ on Italy: MacRumors said Apple named only certain stores there without saying which, while 9to5Mac said most Italian stores would have walk-in units1,2. AppleInsider said every Apple Store it checked is opening early on launch day4.

Apple's online store tells shoppers to check back Saturday, Oct. 24, for pickup reservations, so it was not clear whether reservations can be made on launch day1.
