The Saudi-led coalition said Monday it intercepted a ballistic missile fired toward Riyadh by Yemen's Houthis and destroyed two launchers in Sanaa, CNA and Arab News reported1,2.

Coalition spokesman Turki Al-Malki said air defenses destroyed the missile and that operations continue against the Houthi missile network1,2. Arab News said Civil Defense alerts woke Riyadh residents at 3:42 a.m. local time, then said the threat had passed2.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group had targeted King Khalid International Airport with a ballistic missile and struck oil pumping stations with drones, CNA reported1. Reuters said Saudi authorities had not confirmed the oil-infrastructure claim4.

CNA said Houthis have repeatedly struck the airport, including an attack this month that killed 13 people and wounded more than 3001. Arab News said the airport began a partial reopening Sunday2.

Arab News said debris from intercepted missiles on Sunday injured two people in southern Saudi Arabia and damaged buildings and vehicles2. CNA said Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis agreed to keep a Patriot battery at Yanbu1. Independent confirmation of Houthi damage claims was not in the reports reviewed1,4.

CNA said the airport closure had already forced Saudi Arabia to postpone a flagship investment conference and disrupted other events1. Saree had warned that the airport remained a military target, according to the same report1.

Arab News said intercepted debris had also fallen in western areas including near Makkah in prior days, drawing a condemnation from Grand Mosque official Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais2.

RTÉ and SCMP likewise paired the coalition intercept with the Houthi claim of a new airport attack3,5. ABC News filed the claim in a wider Iran-war live blog6.
