Meta Platforms said Monday it plans to raise a total of $95 billion to support investments in AI infrastructure and superintelligence, according to CNBC1.
CNBC reported that the company will first raise $35 billion in underwritten public equity offerings, then later seek an additional $60 billion through an at-the-market program1.
CNA, carrying a Reuters report, said Meta launched public offerings of about $35 billion in common stock and convertible preferred stock2.
That CNA account said Meta also plans a separate at-the-market share sale of up to $60 billion after new non-voting Class C shares begin trading, which it said is expected in the first quarter of 20272.
CNA said the fundraising comes as Meta increases spending on data centers, computing capacity and AI products, and named OpenAI and Anthropic as competitors2.
CNA, citing Meta's latest quarterly filing, said the company had $82.45 billion in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities as of Sept. 30, slightly above $80.92 billion in long-term debt2.
The same CNA report said Meta has committed to spend about $825 billion in the future, mainly on data centers, AI-related infrastructure and cloud computing power2.
A Reuters article with a $35 billion headline could not be read behind a login wall; a second CNBC URL extracted with the $95 billion plan3,4.
What remains unclear from the accounts that could be read is the exact mix of common versus preferred stock in the first tranche, the pricing, and whether the $95 billion total is a hard cap or a planning figure1,2.
