German apartment prices rose 0.3% from a year earlier in the third quarter and prices for single-family homes and duplexes rose 0.4%, according to figures the German Economic Institute (IW) released Friday, Reuters reported1.
IW said prices have been roughly sideways since 2023 and remain about 10% below their 2022 peak, attributing the stall to higher financing costs that reduced demand for homes listed for sale1.
Germany's statistics office is scheduled to publish official third-quarter house-price figures on Dec. 23; official data showed a slight increase in the second quarter, Reuters said1.
