xAI shares first 7-minute Grok Imagine Odyssey episode on X

Variety reports that xAI posted a 7-minute AI-generated Odyssey episode on X, after Elon Musk said in July that Grok Imagine would deliver a historically accurate feature by year-end.

xAI posted a 7-minute, AI-generated episode of an Odyssey series on X on Friday, Variety reported, months after Elon Musk said Grok Imagine would produce a full-length version of Homer’s poem by the end of 20261.

The company account credited Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, both of which Variety said specialize in AI filmmaking1. Variety said no further statement accompanied the episode1.

In July, Musk wrote that Grok Imagine would make a full-length Odyssey that was historically accurate and true to Homer’s work before the year ended, Variety reported, citing a post that accompanied a 3-minute AI short shared by an X user1.

After that announcement, director Scott Derrickson wrote on X that Musk “doesn’t know shit about cinema” and that his opinions on art were worthless, Variety reported1.

Variety said the new episode arrives after Musk criticized Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Odyssey film, including the casting of Elliot Page as Achilles’ Ghost and Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy1. Variety reported that Musk wrote in March that Nolan is an anti-White racist and claimed Nyong’o was cast because Nolan wants awards1.

Whether a feature-length Grok Imagine Odyssey will still appear by the end of 2026 was not stated in the Friday post, according to Variety1.
